8th Design Meetup - Kovai Madrasters

Kovai Madrasters is a community for designers who are eager to LEARN, REACH and SHARE new trends in Design. As a community, we conduct meetups, an ambiance for the designer to meet, share and discuss. We conducted our 8th Design Meetup from Kovai Madrasters on April 07 2018. Every time we host plan out motto is not to teach or train people but to initiate a trigger from which people start exploring on a topic. On this note, for this meetup, we took “Designing for Future Technologies” as the theme.

With the rise in automation and technological advancements, all the mundane works are threatened. But not only designing for human emotions but teaching machines to understand human emotions would be the responsibilities of a future designer. So this is where our first topic of discussion for the meetup emerged “Everyday is full of emotions” by Sesha Devarajan and so whats next the next big game changer for designers, of course moving from the limited canvas to treating our environment as the canvas. Yes, you are right Virtual and Augmented reality another fast-growing technology which we believe would transform the way we work and interact with machines and surroundings. Tada! the second topic of discussion in the meetup Putting the ‘Real’ in Virtual reality by Ashwini Kumar.

If you have been to the meetup you would have by now have found I missed something, Yes the Activity the one which every Madrasters meetup begin with. “Storyboard” plays an important role in understanding the context and while designing for VR’s so we thought it would be a great kick start for participants to begin their journey. Stop!! An activity without a constraint no way ;) That’s how the “Crazy 8” came into the picture

1.Take a paper and fold it into 8 sections.
2. Each team completes their whole story within the 8 sections.
